Red-hot Rovers race into play-offs

IF YOU had said a few months ago that Doncaster Rovers would reach the play-offs, people would have thought you were crazy.

And yet their remarkable club record-equalling run of ten straight victories has helped them surge up the League Two table into fifth place and gatecrash the post-regular season competition. Yesterday’s 2-2 draw at Gillingham booked their berth and completed a remarkable transformation.

At the turn of the year, Doncaster were in a relegation scrap, hovering above the relegation places in 22nd back in January.

Before yesterday, a 1-1 draw at Bradford in early March was the last time they failed to pick up three points and they sail into their play-off semi-final first leg against Crewe on Monday, May 6 on the crest of a wave.

Ahead of the Gills clash, Rovers had produced back-to-back comeback wins against Barrow and Colchester to illustrate the inner belief in the camp.
