The Glovers gave a response that their fans were looking for following an embarrassing exit from the FA Trophy in midweek against local rivals Weymouth.

“That performance has done us the world of good,” reflected assistant manager Chris Todd afterwards.

“It’s easy to say nobody cares but we were hurting [after Tuesday]. To turn up and perform like the boys did shows character and that’s what this group is about.”

Yeovil trailed after 15 minutes when John Akinde lifted a neat finish over goalkeeper Ollie Wright after collecting George Langston’s long ball over the top of the home team’s defence.

The Irons, beaten now in seven of their past away matches, are not used to winning on the road their lead did not last long.
