MP CALLS ON LOCALS TO BACK SPARTANS

Owner and chairman Irfan Liaquat confirmed the Croft Park club were up for sale earlier this week and explained a recent boycott held by fans was one of the key drivers in his decision.

These are troubled times for one of the most famous names in NonLeague football as they currently sit bottom of the Northern Premier League Premier Division table and remain in serious danger of suffering consecutive relegations into Step Four.

Fears were further heightened on Thursday when home fixtures with Gainsborough Trinity and FC United of Manchester were postponed as Spartans did not meet ‘legal requirements’ to host games at Croft Park.
