DIRECTOR of football Anthony Millerick has revealed the secret behind Hartley Wintney's recent upturn in form players staying behind for a beer after the game.

ROW ARE RAISING A GLASS!

The Row fell just short of completing the perfect October with Saturday's 3-2 defeat at Hayes & Yeading United ending a run of five straight victories in Isthmian South Central, yielding 18 goals.

Led by joint-bosses Jamie Daltrey and John Cook, the Hampshire village club have emerged as surprise promotion contenders in an ultra-competitive division.

And Millerick, who himself took the club from Step 5 to Step 3 in a trophy-laden five-year spell in charge of the Row, believes the togetherness of the group, instilled by the former Knaphill bosses, is a key factor in the club's progression this season.

"I'm very happy at the moment," Millerick told The NLP. "All the tell-tale signs that things were going to go well fairly early on in pre-season are beginning to show.
