ALTOR TACKLES PUBLIC SAFETY WITH INNOVATION

Backed by India’s first and largest integrated incubator platform Venture Catalysts, Altor has made headway with their breakthrough device.

The Smart Helmet is the future of two-wheeler safety. This helmet connects the user to any navigation needs, personalises notifications needed from their phone, and most importantly, promptly sends an alert in the event of an accident. 

The four founders – Shamik Guha, Sayan Tapadar, Muhammad Bilal Shakil and Anirban Datta Gupta – created the product after tragically losing a friend to a two-wheeler accident where medical assistance was delayed. This experience motivated them to aim for better public safety and awareness. The Smart Helmet also provides road mapping and alerts the user of nearby accident zones as a preventive method.

We bring you an exclusive interview with co-founder and Team Lead, Shamik Guha, as he discusses the importance of Altor, their future and how Shark Tank’s exposure led to do more. 

ex: How did the Altor and the Smart Helmet come to exist? Shamik Guha: Altor started with a story. During engineering days, we, the founders, were super excited to try new tech out and build solutions that cater to global problems. A prime trigger in selecting and finalizing this problem came from a friend’s fatal bike accident, as narrated in our Shark Tank India episode.
