Two flip phones have made glorious debuts this year - we’re talking about the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and the Moto Razr 40 Ultra. We can say that this year the flip phones have come to their absolute actualisation as both are now capable of shutting down. Well, they were capable of shutting down before, but now they shut down without any gap in between, making them the TRUE flip phones. It is easy to assume that flip and folding phones bring little to no upgrade to their devices with each passing year, however, the truth is that these devices were getting refined to bring the best folding experience to the users, which has become a reality with BOTH the Z Flip 5 and Moto Razr 40 Ultra. To sum it up easily, both these devices are amazing! But we’re here for the nitty gritty so without any further ado, let’s compare these flipping devices!
DESIGN
It won’t be offensive to say that the aesthetic and design aspects of flip devices are its USP. People buy these devices as they are eye candies and demand attention. This time around, both Moto Razr 40 Ultra and Galaxy Z Flip 5 close without gaps. While Galaxy devices have flat sides, the Razr features curved ones. The curved sides of the Razr 40 Ultra are undoubtedly better than the Z Flip 5, but it is also a matter of choice. Talking about dust and water resistance, The Z Flip 5 comes with just an IPX8 rating whereas the Razr 40 Ultra carries an IP52 rating. Both the devices come with an aluminium frame and a glass back, however, the magenta vegan leather option provided by Motorola is simply superior. In the design aspect, Moto Razr 40 Ultra takes the cake.
