Godrej has been providing security solutions to Indian customers for decades with its ever-reliable lockers but a little-known fact is that they have made strides in expanding its security solutions portfolio with products like personal lockers, alarm systems, health safety products, video door phones and home cameras. This month we stack its latest Ace Pro home camera against the competition.
Godrej has decided to play it safe when it comes to the camera’s design. It features a dome-shaped design, similar to the competition. The circular base offers good support for a tabletop setup and even comes with accessories needed for a ceiling mount. The IR LED for night recording and status LED light are placed around the camera sensor. Incidentally, the status LED light cannot be turned off. The reset button and the microSD card slot supporting up to 128GB card are hidden below the camera sensor.
The initial setup takes a few minutes via the Godrej Ace app (available for both Android and iOS). The app is the gateway to all the camera features, including watching the live feed and the most basic pan and tilt, which can be controlled with the virtual D-Pad. While motion detection is a common feature amongst home cameras, motion tracking and cruise mode are hard to find. When activated, motion tracking starts tracking as soon as a human subject appears in its focus area. Cruise mode gives full 360-degree view while stopping at regular intervals. The camera also supports a siren mode that can trigger a loud siren to ward off any intruder.
