Air purifiers have become common in Indian metros and suburbs, thanks to the increasing threat of industrial and vehicular pollution. Honeywell has been a leading brand in air purification, and has currently several models in the Indian market. The new Air Touch U2 offers advanced filtration along with anti-bacterial filters and houses a humidification system particularly useful for the dry northern Indian states.
The Honeywell Air Touch U2 has a straight cuboidal design with a bright LED strip running along the perimeter to indicate air quality with four colours from green to red. The control panel on top includes illuminated touch sensitive buttons along with the display. The device is Wi-Fi enabled and you can connect it with your smartphone via the Honeywell Air Touch app. The purifier uses a four-stage purification system including a prefilter, anti-bacterial filter, H13 HEPA filter, and cold catalyst with activated carbon filter. The H13 HEPA filter is stated to trap 99.97 percent of pollutants that are 0.3 microns or larger in size. Honeywell claims that the device can effectively remove bacteria, pet particles, PM2.5, PM10, pollen, VOCs (volatile organic compound), mould, dust, and chemical pollutants such as formaldehyde from paint and cleaning agents. The machine also houses an ioniser and a UV LED to eliminate harmful bacteria. The purifier is capable of delivering clean air at the rate of 650 cubic metre per hour CADR (Clean Air Delivery Rate) and is capable of covering up to 1007.5 square feet. Honeywell specifies the filter life to be 3000 hours or one year, but the label inside the cover states 1500 hours or six months.
