Tiger - a being who triggers our primaeval fear with its unmatched predatory skills and who makes our hearts skip a beat with its dazzling striped beauty, is the protagonist of the recently launched feature-length documentary Project Tiger by Nature inFocus. Here, ace wildlife filmmakers Kalyan Varma and Rohit Varma (cofounders of Nature inFocus) successfully portray the gripping story of India’s national animal. The film makes you experience a range of emotions as you travel with the tiger through its most challenging years on Indian soil. The narration of the story by conservation stalwarts and the compelling visual depiction, including rare archival footage, unveil never-before-known hidden truths behind the world’s biggest conservation success story - Project Tiger.
“Project Tiger is an incredible achievement for India. It is about protecting the tiger. By saving the species, which is a metaphor for conservation, we essentially ensure the country’s ecological security. Hence, we wanted to document the entire story of this project to let the world know how India managed to revive its tiger population with the help of this project, and today houses the highest wild tiger population,” mentioned Kalyan.

National Parks Of India
India is blessed with a rich tapestry of biodiversity that is both a natural heritage and a national treasure. The concept of national parks in the country traces back to the late 19th century when the importance of conserving wildlife began to take root in the consciousness of the colonial administration. The first national park in India, Hailey National Park (now known as Rajaji National Park), was established in 1936, marking a historic commitment to wildlife conservation. The post-independence era saw an exponential increase in protected areas, primarily driven by a need to conserve India’s unique flora and fauna threatened by rampant industrialization and urbanization.
