They were born on the same day – 25 years apart. Now, after 22 years of marriage, it seems Catherine Zeta-Jones and Michael Douglas are proof that the couple who birthdays together, stays together!
On September 25, Catherine, 53, and Michael, 78, celebrated their joint birthdays with an enormous chocolate cake and a flurry of loving social media messages to each other.
Then, two months later, the pair – parents to son Dylan, 22, and daughter Carys, 19 – celebrated their 22nd wedding anniversary.
“I thank my lucky stars every day that I picked the right guy,” Chicago star Catherine shared. “I lucked out big time. He’s a wonderful husband. He’s a wonderful father...”
Unlike their extravagant wedding ceremony at the Plaza Hotel in New York in 2000 – attended by the likes of Tom Hanks, Whoopi Goldberg, Sir Anthony Hopkins, Brad Pitt and Goldie Hawn – there was no big event to celebrate the occasion.
As Tinseltown veterans, work was calling and Catherine was busy promoting her new Addams Family series on Netflix called Wednesday. In the eight-episode show, she plays family matriarch Morticia Addams – something she relished.
“It was a joy to play such an iconic woman,” she laughs. “It’s weirdly close to the original Addams Family with their warts-and-all foibles and craziness. I loved it.”
Whether it’s the kooky, spooky world of the Addams clan or her own precious brood, family life is important to the Welsh-born actress.
