She’s known as the outspoken star who always has an opinion on TV and radio, but Vanessa Feltz is showing her vulnerable side on Celebs Go Dating. Feeling reflective after her highly publicized split from Ben Ofoedu, her partner of 16 years, Vanessa admits, ‘It is a big old deal. I’ve had an awful track record. A horrible divorce that was 23 years ago and a very recent break-up. It makes you feel enormously insecure. Things weren’t what you thought they were...’
Vanessa married orthopaedic surgeon Michael Kurer when she was just 21, but he left her after 17 years. She continues, ‘It does leave you feeling very fragile, apprehensive – very disappointed and very sad in many ways. You have based all your choices on a life of experience, but it hasn’t taken you in the right romantic direction…’
Battling crippling loneliness, Vanessa admits she’s been out non-stop since her split with Ben, to avoid being at home on her own. ‘I have been out every single night and I’m still doing it. It is knackering actually. Just not to be on my own. Not to walk through the door and sit there alone until the next day. I don’t want to do that. It is horrible, lonely and boring as well. A big fat downer.’
