HURRAH FOR SIBLINGS!

‘Our closeness never wavered’ Hannah Trott, 35, is an IT manager and lives in Leighton Buzzard with her husband Mike, 35, and their three-year-old son Alfie.

Leaving the tattoo parlour, my sister Grace and I admired our inkings – mine on my wrist and Grace’s on her back. It was 2007 and we’d wanted matching tattoos to mark our close bond. We’re identical twins, so our tattoos became the one way to tell us apart.

SHARING EVERYTHING

As kids, Grace and I were best friends and loved being dressed identically by our mum Jan. As teens, we went from matching outfits to sharing a wardrobe. We’d go on double dates and have fun playing tricks, going to the toilets and swapping outfits, wondering how long it would take our dates to notice.

At 16, we both left school and started work - me on a helpdesk, Grace in admin. But Grace was always at the end of the phone, and we often called each other from work for advice. At 18, we parted ways for the first time, living with friends, but still told each other everything.

One of the only downsides of being a twin was when we were compared to each other. When I passed my driving test in 2006, it put pressure on Grace. ‘When will you pass?’ Mum would ask. When Grace got her licence, our dad Alan bought us a Peugeot 206 to share. We went everywhere together, but would often argue over who would drive.
