3 easy ways to...
impress in a job interview
Give yourself the best shot of getting your next position with these tips
1 PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT
‘Interviews tend to have a pretty similar format – you go in, shake hands (if it’s in person), introduce yourself, answer questions and ask your own. Practising beforehand will help calm your nerves and boost your confidence,’ explains Victoria McLean, CEO of career consultancy City CV (citycv.com). ‘Ask a friend or family member to act as the interviewer and ask them for feedback. There are questions that come up during most interviews, such as those about your experience, motivation and weaknesses. By having your answers ready in advance and being able to answer them smoothly, you will always give a good impression. Also, ensure you research the company you’re interviewing for – this will let the interviewer know you’re prepared and enthusiastic about the role,’ she adds.
