Just hours before releasing to the world her emotional video explaining she had cancer, Catherine, Princess of Wales, travelled from London to Windsor Castle for an "emotional" private lunch with her father-in-law.
It's believed Kate was determined to speak to King Charles ahead of her bombshell health revelation so she could check on how the 75-year-old was doing amid his own cancer battle, reports The Sun.
It is known that Charles, whose own cancer diagnosis was announced by Buckingham Palace in February, already knew about Kate's health status ahead of the news being released. But a Windsor insider notes the meeting was nevertheless unprecedented and speaks volumes to the close and supportive relationship between the senior royals.
"It is highly unusual for just the two of them to sit down together like this," the source told the UK outlet. "They would have had lots to discuss and share because just weeks earlier the King had begun his course of treatment and dealt with announcing his diagnosis."
