Proud Catherine is performing at her first Lunar New Year Festival

When Catherine Tan steps onto the stage at next week's Lunar New Year Festival in Melbourne, it'll be a dream come true for the emerging singer.

"It's always been my favourite time of year," Catherine, 33, smiles. "Lunar New Year is a part of who we are and people have continued to pass on that tradition, allowing the next generation to feel the joy it brings."

As a volunteer with Melbourne's Chinatown Association, Catherine has spent the past few months helping organise the festival's line-up while also planning her own performance.
