Blood sugar myths vs. facts

Fact: ACV steadies blood sugar levels

Pairing a carbohydrate-heavy meal with a glass of water mixed with 2 tsp. of apple cider vinegar (ACV) may reduce blood sugar spikes by as much as 20%. Arizona State University scientists credit the acetic acid in vinegar with helping food stick around longer in the stomach. This slows carbohydrates from flooding your system and causing blood glucose to rise dangerously high. Another plus: Earlier ASU research found that subjects who used this trick felt satisfied longer and ate about 275 fewer calories over the next day without even trying.
