Zone3 Activate+ Short Sleeve Tri Suit
(£129, zone3.com)
Zone3's Activate+ collection has evolved from the brand's popular and affordable Activate range, but with a touch of style. Having value teemed with high performance at its core, there is plenty of tech to get excited about, including the use of a 'performance' Lycra for a close fit, a breathable panel down the back, a lightweight chamois and grippers on the shorts. A great entry-level triathlon suit.
VERDICT: 'When you consider that top-end tri suits cost hundreds of pounds, it's clear you're getting a lot for your money with this option, not least a great-looking design. But it's about more than looks - the padded gusset is the perfect blend of lightweight and protective against saddle sore, the breathable back panel means that you stay cool when you go from a breezy bike to a toasty run, and the tight-fitting performance-grade Lycra fabric ensures the shorts and longer arms don't ride up when cycling or running. We'd prefer a slightly larger back pocket for training sessions, but little more than space for gels is necessary for short-distance event.'
