Sumita Chakraborty finds out from Varun Dhawan himself and a whole host of people in the know whether this young actor is on the path of super stardom.

Just say ‘Varun Dhawan’ and watch the people around you get into an ecstatic frenzy. In fact, here is one star who in his career spanning just five years, has managed to beget a humongous fan following from all age groups. Children throng around him in droves while senior citizens rush to give him their blessings and ashirwaad. And of course, he does have a maniacal female following even to the extent of one deluded girl actually stalking him.

Indeed, this actor begets immense adulation and love from people reminiscent of what superstars of yore did. Such is the popularity of Varun Dhawan, perhaps the new superstar of 2018.

Perfect Launch Pad …

His launch was superlative. And why not! …After all, it was in the big Daddy of Tinsel Land, Karan Johar’s film Student Of The Year, and KJo’s super glossy flicks have a reputation of having tonnes of tear-jerking emotions, glam and glitz; and with its glossy packaging, but obviously, this film too was destined to be a super hit. And so it was!

And three new stars were born – Alia Bhatt, Sidharth Malhotra and Varun Dhawan. But out of the three, Varun, perhaps, got the maximum kudos - both from the critics and the audience. Not because he was a star kid – his father is the masala film king David Dhawan, one of the best directors of comedy films – so he is, in reality a product of Bollywood’s most dreaded word ‘nepotism’, a fact he, incidentally, has no problems with.

But because Varun Dhawan owned every scene he was in - whether it was in a vigorous jig to the tune of Radha, romancing Alia or showing off his possessive side to her in the film. His passion, hard work and commitment as an actor showed onscreen and the  audience just fell in love with him.
