The mountain range which can be found along the eastern coast of peninsular India is called the ‘Eastern Ghats’.
It is not continuous, nor is it as high as the Western Ghats. But it is equally important, as the Eastern Ghats is the birthplace of numerous small rivers and has rich mineral resources.
The Eastern Ghats run from northern Odisha, through Andhra Pradesh and a few parts of Karnataka, till Tamil Nadu. It is parallel to the Bay of Bengal. The coastal plains called ‘Coromandel coast’ lie between the Eastern Ghats and Bay of Bengal.
