The average age of members of The Philatelic Society is 60. Rick Warren writes about why collecting stamps is the ideal hobby when you have time on your hands
STAMP COLLECTING is still one of the world’s most popular hobbies, with an estimated 60 million active collectors worldwide. It is an absorbing pastime and can be financially rewarding, too.
Mobile telephony and emails have changed the way we communicate. If written letters have not completely disappeared, they are now something of a rarity. Each fires the imagination and allows us to share some part of the history behind its making – from the country and year in which it originated, to the story about what it depicts. In their own right many are, quite simply, miniature pieces of extraordinarily beautiful art. You can be proud of a collection.
