PLANT-BASED DIETS

While vegetarianism has long been part of global food culture, more recent plant-based diets seem to be gaining popularity.

Veganism, the practice of avoiding meat and cutting out eggs, dairy and all other animal derived foods from one’s diet, is in vogue. Hollywood stars such as Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus and Sia have spoken about embracing veganism and they are influencing a whole new generation of consumers.

Looking at modern food menus, you’ll find ingredients such as tofu, tempeh and quinoa becoming more prominent in dishes. Meatless burgers, for instance, are now a “thing”.
