We believe in using traditional elements with a modern twist in our projects,’ starts off interior designer Dhaval Patel when quizzed about the design philosphy of his Ahmedabad based design firm. ‘The client wanted to design his show flat in a contemporary style and utilise each space wisely and get optimum use out of it,’ he adds. Based on the client’s brief Dhaval started working on his drawing board to design this space with distinct materials which would provide the interiors with a unique look and feel. ‘As we have the freedom to design the space without any restrictions, we followed the mantra of employing natural traditional materials in fusion with modern ones.’

The entrance vestibule was a very small pocket, so the designer decided to make every inch count and convert each element into a design statement. The door is ornamented with veneer in a ‘lehariya’ pattern with a copper triangular handle. The same lehariya pattern is used on the ceiling as well.

The show flat consists of public areas like the kitchen, dining and the living room along with one bedroom on the ground floor and two bedrooms (master and guest) and a lounge on the first floor. The show flat also showcases an external balcony, functional service areas and a parking and exterior porch space.
