The Belle of the Ball at a Big Birthday Celebration the Countess of Wessex Dazzles as She Joins Kings, Queens and the ‘prankster Prince’ for a Glittering Gala Dinner
She may have been surrounded by some of Europe’s most glamorous royals, but the Countess of Wessex stole the show last week at the joint 80th birthday celebrations for King Harald and Queen Sonja of Norway.
Wearing a floor-skimming bottle green gown by British designer Suzannah, Sophie was the belle of the ball, representing the UK at the gala dinner at the Royal Palace in Oslo.
Other guests included Denmark’s Queen Margrethe, Crown Prince Frederik and his wife Crown Princess Mary, and Prince Joachim and his wife Princess Marie. The family made quite the entrance, arriving aboard the Danish royal yacht Dannebrog.
The Swedish royal family were well represented, too, with King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia, Crown Princess Victoria and her husband Prince Daniel, and Prince Carl Philip and his wife Princess Sofia, who is pregnant with the couple’s second child and showed off her baby bump in a navy Oscar de la Renta gown.
