In dieser Angelegenheit

As we reach the culmination of another year, many of us are beginning to fear that the new variant of Covid-19 will see more deaths and the return of lockdowns and restrictions. Knowing the devastating impact of the initial outbreak on the globe, the fear of another year could be paralysing.

But there is work to be done and life must go on. Even if the world of work is changing faster than ever imagined into a more flexible system, allowing people to find a balance between working in an office and at home. This issue we feature this exact issue, and also how women are less likely to regain their roles post-Covid.

As November’s UN’s global meeting on climate change, COP26, didn’t really give us the results the world expected regarding an end to all fossil fuel extraction, our article on the perils our world is facing is timely.

Negotiators at COP26 seemed to pay heed to those countries reliant on fossil fuels to the detriment of nations who now feel doomed to a future of life changing climate disasters.
If only they had read our main article on how to negotiate featuring Lusin Mehrabi, they may have learned that, in her words, “we can make the world a better place through negotiation”. Sadly, not this time.

Our usually eclectic mix of articles features amongst others how the Dutch manage water when most of their country lies below sea level, the risks of Black Friday, overtourism, and how you can flush less and save water every time you pay a visit to the bathroom.

May I wish you and your families all the very best at the end of another challenging year. May 2022 bring us some rays of happiness in what has been a very difficult period.
