As we reflect on another year gone by, it seems the British public are very much warming to the new King, with King Charles III’s 2023 Christmas Day message the most popular television show on Christmas Day, with 7.84 million people tuning in at 3pm.

Charles III: The Coronation Year, airing for the first time on BBC1 the following day, was also extremely popular. Based on “unprecedented behind-the-scenes access” to the preparations for the Coronation, the 90-minute BBC documentary allowed King Charles and Queen Camilla to show their funny side.
