Marching on to 2014
THE MIDDLE EAST and Africa are two of the most important markets for the food and beverage industry. Trends that we saw this year will continue into 2014, with greater emphasis on producing for the needs of the middle class – convenience foods, healthier options and speciality products. For the African market, products are better offered in smaller portions and packaging for affordability. Africa in particular also needs partners to grow its food and agricultural sector to the fullest, according to Rabobank. The region’s potential has not yet been fully tapped, and the Bank is encouraging global food companies to further their engagement with local suppliers and manufacturers.
