Welcome to the year 2013. There are alot of new developments and upgrades happening t h i s year. One i s the conventional way of setting up multitools in a machine system data file. A new concept in sheet metal CAD/CAM software promises significant support for multi-tools. This enhanced software from Radan provides greater automation while still giving the user manual options if required.
Next is a digital laser scanner that brings laser scanning in the accuracy range of tactile inspection. For over a decade, Nikon Metrology pioneered laser scanning and gradually sharpened the capabilities of this non-contact measuring technology by introducing a laser scanner that benefit from high-quality lens. This laser scanner is a viable alternative to a tactile probe for an increasing number of high-precision CMM applications in the Middle East and Africa.
Since the dawn of machining, the manufacturing industry has looked for ways to squeeze greater efficiencies out of existing equipment, materials and labour. A breakthrough in technology improves the way tools cut their way through material, using high-speed continuous tangent motion rather than sharp, interrupted movements.
Demand for machine tools correlate with the increasing economic activity in the Middle East & Africa, which stimulates demand for industrial products and hence increases the need for new and advanced machinery.
South Africa is making progress with an expected growth rate of 3.4% in 2013, as projected by the IMF. The government is focused on improving its mining and manufacturing. Moreover, huge public investments in the infrastructure development programs remain in the forefront.
Looking ahead on the growth path, Middle East & South Africa will inevitably be an attractive destination for machine makers worldwide.
