Welcome to one of the most highly anticipated editions of the year: the annual 40 Under 40 issue of Prestige Indonesia. I’m always excited to work on this feature, year after year, as the pool of extraordinary young achievers we bring into the limelight has never failed to astound me.
From a two Michelin-starred chef with a growing following in Ubud, Bali, to an advocate for sustainable fashion who pioneered an eco-conscious brand in an attempt to take on the global market, each honouree are true representatives of progress.
We also highlight multiple inf luential female leaders who empower other women, along with F&B players set on transforming the industry by embracing modernity and adapting to ever-evolving consumer demands. We also have a tale of a serial entrepreneur’s transformative journey into the f ield of medical science as his research tackles some of the most pressing health issues in the region.

To indulge in fashion is to be human. While working on this fashion-focused September 2024 issue of Prestige Indonesia, I am constantly reminded how humane our passion for fashion actually is; how fashion allows for self-expression and incredible feats of creativity, helping society exchange cultural values and evolving identities. In reminding everyone to stay human, I invite you to join in the celebration of the sheer brilliance that fashion and creativity can bring into our lives.
Gracing our cover this time is the ever-stylish Angel Susinto, who truly embodies sophistication, simplicity, and confidence – the three pillars of a f lawless look. Angel brings the Louis Vuitton Autumn/Winter 2024 collection to life, and her story is one you certainly don’t want to miss.
We also feature exclusive stories of some of the most mind-blowing talents in the fashion industry. From Budi Adji and Philipp Althof of BUDISM COUTURE who are redef ining couture from Cape Town and bringing it to the world, to Didit Hediprasetyo, who captured global attention with his designs for our country’s Olympians, to Mety Choa, who continues to make waves with Maison Met’s breathtaking creations.

While visionaries are often seen as glorious, those who have walked that path by choice or
through fate will tell you that being a visionary is a challenge. It means blazing trails for others to
follow; to see destinations that no one else can perceive. It takes courage to be a visionary.
As you delve into this edition of Prestige Indonesia – the Vision Issue – I hope you find
inspiration in the stories of visionaries who are shaping our world. Their journeys attest to the
power of vision and the impact it can have on the world’s stage. On that note, we shine the spotlight of distinguished leaders like Taha Bouqdib, CEO of V3 Gourmet, who’s perhaps known for elevating the luxury gourmet lifestyle with brands such as TWG Tea and Bacha Coffee. We also talked with Benny Hadisurjo, the leader of an F&B giant – Sarirasa Group – who has spent 50 years preserving the true flavours of Indonesia. Finally, we have Dony Oskaria, the CEO of InJourney, who is steering the future of Indonesia’s aviation and tourism industries through groundbreaking initiatives.

I still remember the excitement I felt when I held a copy of the first edition of Prestige Indonesia in my hands. It was the culmination of a vision of a community that shared the same values as this brand that I decided to bring to Indonesia. At that moment, I knew that it was a title that would last. The next twenty years went by in the blink of an eye, and now here I am, putting the finishing touches on Prestige Indonesia’s 20th anniversary issue – driven by that same sense of excitement, pride, and joy, but 20 times over. So, to our loyal readers and friends, I welcome you to our 20th year. This milestone marks a two-decade-journey filled with elegance, inf luential stories, and remarkable moments. Over the years, the stories that you have shared with us have inspired, enlightened, and captivated untold thousands. This issue you’re holding is therefore a tribute to you, as well as all the extraordinary people and moments that def ine Prestige Indonesia. Of course, a celebration as special as a 20th anniversary calls for something truly special. To that end, we have reunited twenty of our cover ladies, from our inaugural cover star to some of the glamorous faces of recent years, these ladies embody the essence of Prestige Indonesia. Their stories and achievements have been forever immortalised within the pages of this magazine, and now we invite you to relive our journey together with them.

Maison Seoul, once said, “Architecture should speak of its time and place but yearn for timelessness.” Fittingly, this month’s theme celebrates the ingenious creativity and craftsmanship of designers who push the limits to create designs that inspire. We handpicked exceptional designers for their creative prowess, like Bali-based architect Alexis Dornier, who shares his pioneering approach to sustainable design that harmonises with nature, and renowned Indonesian designer Andra Matin, who shares his groundbreaking works that continue to inspire the architectural landscape. Kartik Shethia of MillerKnoll also offers insights into transformative strategies in global furniture design.

Leonardo Da Vinci, one of the greatest innovators who ever lived, once said, “Knowing is not enough; we must apply. Being willing is not enough; we must do.” Da Vinci was talking about the innovators. About moving forward using the knowledge we have today to create a better tomorrow.
And so, this time around, with “The Innovators Issue,” we celebrate the spirit of innovation and creativity across various trades, crafts, and industries.  Our cover story features the dynamic Adeline Tjahjadi, who returns to grace the cover of this issue and share her journey of perseverance and innovation in her entrepreneurial and personal life. As a 40 Under 40 class of 2022 alumni, Adeline’s story is one of growth and passion, which we will hopefully find in the members of this year’s 40 Under 40 lineup.

The year 2024 so far has been full of progress and excitement, including our group’s successful debut of DestinAsian Travel Fair, to this issue’s glamorous cover story photoshoot in Macau. However, in this April 2024 themed “The Conversation Issue” I’d like to especially take the time to encourage discussions that shape our society and influence the very fabric of our society.  Read the story of Tommy Sucipto, the visionary behind Warfy Limited, a pioneering lithium-ion battery recycling, addressing a critical need for sustainable technology. Sylvia Beiwinkler, Head of Happy Hearts Indonesia, discusses the organisation’s progress in constructing schools for underprivileged children, a testament to the power of education. And Davina Veronica, a fervent wildlife conservation activist, shares her journey in protecting the rights of abandoned cats and dogs, reminding us of the compassion we owe to all living beings. These are all causes close to my heart, and I sincerely wish our profiles the best in their endeavours to make the world a better place.

Welcome to the March 2024 edition of Prestige Indonesia, where we immerse ourselves in “The Art Issue,” a celebration of creativity, culture, and those shaping the future of the arts. In this issue, we explore art’s profound impact on society, the beauty it brings into our lives, and the visionary individuals behind these transformative works. We are thrilled to present exclusive profiles of impactful figures in the art world. Angelle Siyang-Le, director of Art Basel Hong Kong, discusses the future of the fair and its significance in the global art scene. ART SG co-founder Magnus Renfrew shares insights into ART SG’s second edition, highlighting Singapore’s growing stature as a premier art destination. Additionally, we gain a rare glimpse into the creative process of Syagini Ratna Wulan, whose innovative work challenges traditional visual narratives.

As the year draws to a close, it’s only natural to reflect on the meaning of achievements. We often find that true success is not just about reaching a destination but embracing the journey. In 2023, we’ve witnessed the power of change within our magazine and across our industry. Earlier this year, we proudly unveiled the revamped Prestige Indonesia, offering you a fresh perspective on luxury lifestyle, and I’m delighted that you’ve welcomed it with open arms. Beyond these pages, our world has seen tourism bounce back, entrepreneurial innovations thrive, and the hotel and restaurant scene flourish. These positive changes have infused our spirits with optimism and hope. Speaking of fresh positivity, I recently embarked on an extensive regional tour for Syrco BASÈ Restaurant, following its launch in late November. This venture fills me with excitement, and I’m thrilled by the incredible feedback and support as Asia’s inner circle embraces what the prodigal Chef Syrco Bakker has to offer. From my suite at THE KARL LAGERFELD in Macao, I find myself reflecting on the true essence of philanthropy. It’s not merely about monumental donations or headline-grabbing gestures. At its core, philanthropy embodies a spirit, an innate desire to give selflessly. Our latest issue pulsates with this spirit, merging the splendour of luxury with the nobility of giving. As we step into September, we find ourselves on the brink of an exciting journey, and our
theme for this issue – 40 Under 40 – perfectly encapsulates this spirit. This annual initiative by Prestige is designed to highlight the brightest and most promising minds in Indonesia, young trailblazers who are reshaping our society for the better. These young achievers are not just the future – they are the now. Whether you’re a seasoned entrepreneur, a creative visionary, or a civic leader, the stories of these 40 individuals serve as a testament to what can be accomplished with a bit of ingenuity and a ton of hard work. As the crown jewel of this special issue, I’m delighted to once again work with my dearfriend Patricia Panigoro as she graces our cover. A woman of unparalleled elegance and dedication, Patricia embodies the many facets of modern life – be it as a philanthropist, health enthusiast, or loving mother. Our exclusive cover shoot took place at the gorgeous grounds of Raffles Bali, an environment befitting a woman of her calibre.

This summer, after multiple rendezvous during the various gatherings and events I’ve been hosting within Asia’s inner circle, I find myself enamoured by the idiosyncratic rhythm of genius. It’s an elusive symphony, often echoing in the minds of the avant-garde, those who dare to push the envelope of conventionality and tread the path less travelled. As we unravel the pages of the August 2023 edition – The Genius Issue – we celebrate the manifestation of these extraordinary minds that challenge norms, inspire change, and reshape our world. The theme of genius is not confined to the academically inclined; it is found in the pioneering spirit of those who revolutionise their industries. Our In Focus section explores this notion, spotlighting four profiles: sustainable fashion champion and female empowerment advocate Denica Flesch; the musical prodigy George Harliono; business strategist and tech wizard Junaid Murtaza; and the architect of the modern hairstyle Rob Peetom. Each profile underscores the multiplicity of genius, underlining the myriad ways brilliance can shine.

Fantasy and luxury are intrinsically linked, each feeding into the other in ways that create a symbiotic relationship between the imagined and the tangible. Fantasy fuels the desire for luxury, as luxury is deeply embedded in our dreams and aspirations. We fantasise about a life of comfort and opulence, exclusive experiences and possessions that signal status, success, and taste. Luxury brands have long tapped into this power of fantasy, crafting narratives that transport their audiences into realms of aspiration, sophistication, and exclusivity. This Fantasy Issue was conceptualised with this power in mind and how it ebbs and flows in our lives even more than we care to realise. This issue, high fashion, as is synonymous with the DNA of Prestige Indonesia, takes
centre stage as a prime example of intertwining fantasy. I’m proud to introduce our collaboration with Monica Ivena, a rising haute couture designer with her highly-acclaimed Kaleidoscope Dreams collection, displayed in a glamorous fashion spread with high-profile muses. Stay tuned also as Louis Vuitton displays a whimsical Summer Capsule collection in another fun fashion spread.

From the earliest advancements in transportation to the exploration of outer space, humanity’s ability to push the boundaries of speed has propelled us forward in countless fields. The quest for speed has not only shaped our understanding of the world but has also been a driving force behind technological innovation, scientific breakthroughs, societal progress, and elevated lifestyles. With our anniversary coming up in July, I’m reminded that speed is also synonymous with the constant forward motion of Prestige Indonesia. It may not always be in full acceleration, but in the 19 years we’ve been around, we have progressed in many ways. Thus, the June 2023 edition of Prestige Indonesia – The Speed Issue – celebrates how speed affects our lives in multiple ways. The combined efforts of Airyn Tanu and H.H. Shaikha Jawaher Al Khalifa of the Bahrain Royal Family show the importance of luxury and humanitarian causes coexisting, and our unique Cover Story of two powerful ladies fully depicts this synergy. I’m impressed at how both individuals are progressively fast in pursuing their goals and ambitions.

As I was hosting a charming John Hardy event in April, I was once again amazed by the talent and creativity that lives around us. Craftsmanship is an art that is often overlooked in today’s fast-paced world. So, tI’m dedicating this issue to celebrating the craft of the artisan, both local and global. It gives me great pleasure to introduce the theme of our May 2023 edition: The Craft Issue. In this issue, we showcase the resurgence of age-old techniques and the drive to retain, modernize, and spotlight them. From the crafts of the gastronome to the watchmaker, the jeweller, and the elite furniture makers, we highlight how these modern artisans keep traditions alive while creating something new and exciting. Our Cover Story features Naomi Julia Soegianto, the founder of NJS Gold, one of Indonesia’s most prominent jewellery manufacturers. We delve into her inspiring journey, from her humble beginnings to the heights of success, as well as the personal touches this influential entrepreneur infuses into each piece of jewellery she creates. I am also excited to share the stories of our other compelling profiles, including – exposed for the first time on media – Alexander Kusuma, CEO of ASRI, as he shares his story and the future of the real estate company. Pasquale Jr. Natuzzi, a designer and businessperson, and Merysia Enggalhardjo, a prominent figure of SANIHARTO upscale furniture designer, also shared their thoughts. These individuals have made their mark in their respective fields, and we are honoured to showcase their stories. We also bring you a round-up of the best new hotels opening globally in 2023 and a recap of our Prestige Luxury Weekend Getaway at the new AYANA Segara Bali with selected VIPs and friends of the magazine, which I had the utmost pleasure of hosting. As always, we hope this issue inspires you and fills you with wonder and excitement, especially about the many brilliant crafts that complete our lives.

Feeding is one of the four basic and most primal instincts that humans are evolutionary adapted to have, follow and achieve. And this remains true today. The need to feed often defines our actions and motivations, so much so that the relatively modern saying “you are what you eat” was born. But in the case of our cover personality for this Taste Issue – my dear friend and favourite home cook - Yvonne Yuen, “you are what you cook” certainly rings truer. I’m always fascinated by her sophisticated interpretation of classical Shanghai cuisine, evidently the product of a deep emotional connection to her childhood memories. This is the kind of human-to-food connection we celebrate in this Taste Issue. Speaking of celebrations, I’m proud to be one of the first to announce the imminent arrival of Michelin-starred Indonesian-Dutch chef, Syrco Bakker, later this year to Indonesia with an all-new venture that will surely make waves. Read more about this exciting news in our In Focus section. Other culinary personalities in the section include eccentric MasterChef Canada judge and world-renowned chef Alvin Leung and emerging cake artist and social media sensation Sonia Basil. Each of our personalities tells a unique story about their trade and how they managed to cook up a delicious career around their shared culinary passion. Our Dining column within the Boulevard section brings you the latest selections of happening dining places in and around the region. As a special treat for this issue, we present a round-up of leisurely weekend brunches for you to enjoy. The fashion section is always busy, exciting items to highlight this Spring/Summer, such as Tory Burch’s ready-to-wear collection, and Kate Spade New York’s novelty collection.

The subject of art has long been an inspiration to those pursuing the finer things in life. I am fortunate to have seen more than my fair share of global art exhibitions. Every time, I am always fascinated by the multitude of dialogues, experimentations, and interpretations around art objects as they evolve beyond just any artist’s medium of expression.  Add design to the mix, and it gets even more enjoyable. After all, these are two fineries that every culture and civilization through time immemorial may only produce when they have reached the apex of their growth. Thus, this issue’s theme of Art & Design celebrates these two elements of human ingenuity through our regional perspective. I can’t think of anyone better suited to represent this issue’s theme as our Cover Story than my favourite art mom and esteemed art enthusiast with one of the most impressive collections, Noorani Sukardi Soeprapto. Looking at her busy schedule flying around the world organizing exhibitions and sharing the works of talented Indonesian artists, I’m very proud to feature her story in this issue. Catch our other personalities in this issue, including Carlo Colombo, considered one of the most important Italian architects on the international scene, designer duo Kyoko Inoda and Nils Sveje of the renowned INODA+SVEJE, and veteran independent fine art curator Enin Supriyanto. There is no shortage of artistic talents in Asia, and I’m dedicating our Art & Culture column to these rising artists from the region—each fully deserving more recognition and opportunity—including homegrown Alexander Sebastianus and Sinta Tantra, whose work I had the pleasure of enjoying during ART SG back in January. Look out for these rising stars because you will surely hear more of them before long. When you really think about it, art and design are inseparable from our modern way of
life.

With this major rebrand, we aim to deliver even more powerful stories and luxury experiences to enrich your sensibilities for the finer things in life. I can promise you new heightsof reading enjoyment with highly relatable human elements put to the forefront as we keep youon the bleeding edge of high fashion and luxury together with friends Prestige Indonesia, who are prolific and influential figures of society. As I started to conceptualize this edition, I realized how fitting it is that the theme for this February issue should be New Frontiers – an ode to those who tackle challenges for breakfast,who embrace change, who constantly evolve to reach new heights. Take a stroll to our new opening section, Boulevard, and enjoy the view of a perfect neighborhood, from alluring travel destinations to tantalizing eateries to dazzle your taste buds.Get inspired by a plethora of aesthetically pleasing furnishings to enhance your own living space. Relive some of the best year-end celebrations from the region as you flip through the end of the section. I am proud to have my dear friend Cecilia Tjokrosetio grace this issue’s Cover Story with herinspiring journey as she skillfully navigates her duties as a key leader in the business and as a family member, all while staying hungry in her pursuit of knowledge. More in our In Focus section, inspirational figures the likes of Adelle Odelia , Edward Tirtanata and Natalia Kusumoshare their own journey of trailblazing success.

Every issue of  Prestige Indonesia celebrates a selection of  extraordinary figures – sometimes from the same field of  work, sometimes with a common passion, and 
always with a story to tell. And at the end of  every year, we dedicate the issue to 
a series of  extra extraordinary figures, each representing a certain profession or sphere of  influence, and every one of  them an icon in their own rights. Yes, I am, of 
course, talking about our annual “It List” – and this year’s roundup is as special as ever. That being said, this time I would like to take a moment to highlight what I see as the most important value of  this annual list: the power to inspire. The idea of 
“inspiring” and “being an inspiration” can so easily lose its meaning these days, as if 
setting the goalposts of  what counts as success is all it takes to be considered inspirational. I propose that people who truly inspire are those who lift up those around them. Case in point would be our “It Girl” this year, Nazla Alifa. A content creator by trade, she now runs a talent management company that connect her fellow creators with brands, companies, and organizations to collaborate. What really stands out from this young lady, however, was how she answered our question about what separates established content creators such as herself  with mere wannabes. And it is admittedly easy to become cynical about such a saturated profession. But Nazla simply replied: “I personally don’t think that there are content creators you can call ‘wannabes.’ We all simply want to create content.” This, I believe, is what truly makes somebody it. There are successful people who rise by surpassing others, and there are those who rise while pulling up others with them. That is why our “It List” exists. 

What is “art”? Is it limited to the arrangements of  forms, sounds, and shapes into things like paintings and music? Or can we also count the labours of  crafts that put as much emphasis on function as they do on form? How about creative expressions that are commercial in nature – those that are meant to aspire and not only inspire?  On this occasion, rather than wax philosophical, I’m inviting you, our dear readers, to see the stories of  a wide range of  figures who occupy diverse slots in the realm of  creativity. In a way, this is a themeless edition of  Prestige Indonesia; the personalities we’ve chosen to feature come from various, seemingly unrelated backgrounds. Still, there’s a common thread in that they elevate the lives of  so many people in incredibly imaginative ways... Representing the more accepted definition of  artist we have painter Evi Pangestu, who describes herself  as being a “rebellious” person and specializes in the rather abstract field of  conceptual art. For craftsmanship that is both technical and artistic, we have an interview with Augustin de Buffévent, creative director of  Fauré Le Page– a unique French luxury brand that once produced luxurious firearms for nobility and now produces luxurious bags and leatherworks, and has recently arrived in Indonesia. Then we have another creative director, Felix Tjahyadi, known for his window displays for Hermès boutiques – works that are at once commercial and imaginative. Finally, for the performance arts we have rising actress Shenina Cinnamon – a fiercely vocal rising star who is now making waves in the film industry. On their own, each story might be inspiring – and they’re certainly enjoyable. Considered as a series, there is a larger story about how every form of  artistic expression has merits that anyone can appreciate, depths that anyone willing can delve into, and values that, perhaps, we all can learn from.

Once again, Prestige Indonesia is proud to present its annual 40 Under 40 list. More than just a catalogue of  people who managed to make a name for themselves before reaching this particular milestone age, this is a catalogue of stories – always about success, but very rarely of  the instant variety. In short, the figures that make their way to our 40 Under 40 list are those that find success before their 40 birthday because they’ve managed to rise to the occasion long before that. So, in this 2022 edition of  arguably our most talked-about feature, we have stories about hard decisions and personal sacrifices, stories about breaking conventions and breaking taboos, stories of  failure and wavering wills in the face of imminent downfall. Noticeably lacking, however, are stories that involve putting family in the background to focus on work, or stories where talent and passion are swept aside in favour of  detached accomplishments. A common thread among the stories you’ll find in the pages ahead is, perhaps, balance. These are people who have managed to balance their ambitions and their passions. I think that all of  us – both over and under 40 – can find something of  value in these stories. Inspiration, affirmation, or perhaps completely new ideas. And completing this special edition is a special collaboration with Dior featuring none other than Marsha Timothy, whose latest film currently playing in theatres nationwide will definitely resonate with anyone who has lived through the ’90s in Indonesia. Essentially, our October cover story has a bit of  fashion, plenty of glamour, served with a side of  nostalgia. Happy reading...

It’s always a delight to hear about a designer’s source of  inspiration – the coast of  a faraway land, a once obscure traditional fabric, a city’s skyline – and then discovering all the references that made its way into the apparel that will soon find its way to a boutique or online shop. Of  course, what’s truly mindboggling about high fashion is how there are people in this world who can see, for example, a flower, and then think up a unique way to visualize that flower and a hundred different ways to depict it on a dozen shirts, a range of dresses, several pairs of  shoes, and a whole store worth of  bags. When you see fashion enthusiasts or connoisseurs of  haute couture rave and clamour over a certain collection or a certain designer, it’s that kind of  visionary talent that they’re so enthusiastic about. So, as is usual every year, we dedicate our September issue to the talents that drive the world of  fashion – especially here in Indonesia, and also beyond our borders. And there are always new stories to uncover and find inspiration within, such as how Sean Loh and Sheila Agatha joined forces to create a local brand, Sean Sheila, that you can now find on the official calendar of  Paris Fashion Week. And then there are stories of  those whose talent is finding and elevating that of  others, as is the case with Faye Liu who founded The Clique, a PR company that has taken many local Southeast Asian fashion designers to the world stage. And for the crowning jewel of this edition, we have yet another kind of  talent: the one and only Raisa, who shares with us her charm in a wonderful photoshoot in collaboration with Maison Louis Vuitton, and her story for one of  our most uplifting articles this year. I hope you are just as inspired and entertained by the pages ahead as we were while writing them...

Each monthly edition of  Prestige Indonesia is, more often than not, focused on a certain theme or topic, and will therefore feature notable figures who are considered influential in fields related to that theme – whether it’s travel and tourism, home and living, or fashion. But once in a while, we also like to feature stories that are simply and straight forwardly inspiring. Since I’ve mentioned travel and tourism already, I would like to first draw your attention to our interview with Indah Saugi, who is doing amazing work at In Journey in revitalizing Indonesia’s tourism and its related sectors. Then there are inspiring stories of  people changing the world for the better that we can support right now. It’s certainly interesting to learn how this local company manages to make a huge name for itself, all while making life so much easier for so many households. In her second appearance on our cover, the mother of  two shares a glimpse into the lessons she learned from raising her daughters and shed some new light into the mother-child relationship that I’m sure many of  us can relate to. Once again, we find ourselves in a period of  uncertainty, as the world tries tobalance a new sense of  freedom and dealing with new outbreaks and variants of a disease that most people have grown weary of. Still, while glimpses of  the old apprehensions are starting to manifest here and there, optimism is still the order of  the day. There has been plenty of  new success stories from the world of  business and industries, and we’ve chosen a trio of  leaders to gain new insight into how local businesses have gained new ground: There’s Yozua Makes from Plataran Group,James Prananto from Kopi Kenangan and Tessa Wijaya from Xendit. We’re also sharing with you a glimpse of  the future in a collaborative feature with Le Chateau featuring six young figures who, in the years to come, might go out and create their own mark in the world like their established seniors. And for the cover of  this issue, we partnered up once again with ERHA for a story starring the one and only Wulan Guritno. I would have liked to conclude this letter on a more positive note, but as we were wrapping up this edition of  Prestige, I received the sad news that Chris Hanrahan, our former Managing Editor, has passed away. Chris has been at the helm of  Prestige Indonesia’s editorial team for the better part of  the magazine’s history until early 2020. Even after his departure from the team, Chris still kept in touch with us and regularly contributed to the magazine. It goes without saying that he will be sorely missed as we hope to keep his legacy alive through these very pages...

After more than two years, people all over the world – myself  included and, I’m sure, many of  our readers – are looking outwards again. Travel is back on the menu,being out and about in the great outdoors is once again deemed normal, and urbanlandscapes are starting to look like their post-crisis selves. All that being said, the long months spent inside has left upon many of  us anindelible appreciation for the finer points of  homeownership. We were forced to focus on the comfort, function, and aesthetics of  our own abodes, and in many cases the elevated standards of  home décor, furnishing and interior design won’t go down anytime soon – if  ever.
So, for this issue of  Prestige Indonesia, we’ve talked with architects and interior designers, owners of  luxe furniture ateliers and more. For our cover, in particular, we’ve reconnected with Kezia Karin, our “It Interior Designer” of  2021 to gleannew insights into her collaborations with Louis Vuitton that really shone the spotlight on her interior design studio and, of  course, how she approaches residential design. You might also notice a much-expanded Living section where we go room byroom, space by space, to cover a wide selection of  top-notch products for every corner of  your home. It’s safe to say that the general mood of  the world today is: Get out more, but make sure that your home remains a sanctuary you can always come back to. So, through this issue, we hope to both enlighten and inspire. For the former, we’re featuring interviews with a number of  notable figures in the hospitality industry and related businesses. We caught up with ARTOTEL’s Erastus Radjimin and Ramesh Jackson from Marriott International to gain new insight into how the hotel business is doing, and how it’s planning for the coming months – which, in turn, gives us a good indication of  how our future travel plans might look like. As the F&B business has always been a good indicator of  things to come, we also chatted with Maxime Chaurey from Flash Coffee, as well as Audrey Purwana to learn about Indonesia’s very first craft spirits distillery based in Bali. As for the part about inspiring, we’ve curated a couple of  lively round-ups for anybody looking for travelling ideas. One is a collection of  ten restaurants spread across Asia that any foodie should definitely have on their list of  must-visits. Then, for those looking for something a little bit more adventurous, we have a collection of tented resorts – glamping sites – where you can reconnect with the great outdoors while enjoying five-star comfort.

They’re regularly name-dropped even in the most random conversations, they pop up in news headlines whether in print or online and even fashion enthusiasts aren’t free from them as plenty of  major brands halaunched their own NFT initiatives and released them to the world.  So, in this issue, we’re gingerly taking our first few steps into the realm of  cryptocurrencies and NFTs by reaching out and chatting with a number of individuals who certainly know a thing or two about them. As you browse through the next pages, you’ll stumble on our interviews with Kevin Susanto, Jeth Soetoyo and Pang Xue Kai. There’s certainly the risk that you’ll end up even more confused than before you read these stories, but perhaps they will instead pique your curiosity. Who knows where dabbling in either crypto or NFTs – or both –

While many are still hurting today as we enter the third year of  our generation’s worst health crisis, it’s hard not to be amazed by the number of  businesses, start-ups and entire professional fields that have thrived during the pandemic. The rise of  telehealth and delivery services was only logical; the sudden uptick in, say, garden supply stores sounded less so at first. And then there’s aesthetic medicine. In this issue, we talked to two outstanding aesthetic doctors who also happen to  be brothers – dr. Kevin Maharis and dr. Ricky Maharis. It was certainly an eye-opening chat as they talked about the rising demand for their skills and services in a world where people spend a large chunk of  the time at home in front of  screens and cameras, before getting into the details of  some of  their game-changing innovations. The most valuable part of  our conversation, I would say, are the bits about why people would look for aesthetic treatments – and how it eventually changes more than just a person’s looks. Beauty, as the saying goes, is more than skin deep. And if there’s anything we’ve learned from these two gentlemen in the profession of helping people find their most beautiful selves, it’s that being the best version of ourselves in the physical sense goes a long way in pushing us towards becoming the best version of ourselves in the most fundamental way. All in all, what we have for you in this issue of  Prestige is the origin story of  a successful business, the dynamics of  the two brothers behind it, and how a seemingly superficial profession creates meaningful change. This February has proven to be an especially festive month. With New Year’s celebrations only a month behind us, we’re welcoming the Year of  the Tiger while also looking forward to Valentine’s Day. The latter, in particular, was the reason behind Prestige’s February edition also being our Love Issue. Of  course, there are more facets to this emotional and mental state than just romantic love. So, in collaboration with Cartier, we’ve decided to shine the spotlight on an oft- misrepresented form of  love – the one shared by siblings. For this issue’s cover, we tell the story of  two sisters with a singular bond uniting them. Both are strong, successful individuals in their own rights; both have professed that they couldn’t live without the other. One is Michelle Maryam, an outstanding fashion designer who has made her mark in the world of  style. Her sister Cindy Ozzie, meanwhile, found her success in the uber-competitive realm of online groceries. Their shared-journey, however, is one of  love – of  small gestures and daily calls, of  business collaborations and celebrating each other’s success. Essentially, despite the prevalence of  the sisterly rivalry trope and the idea that professional competitiveness is fostered at home, Michelle and Cindy’s story is a refreshing reminder of  just how beautiful sisterly love – and by extension, the bonds of  family – can be in the real world. On the more romantic side of  things, we’ve also highlighted a number of very talented people who work behind-the-scenes of  what most people see as the ultimate expression of  love: marriage. We talked to designers Rinaldy Yunardi and Hian Tjen, wedding decorator Nefianto Setiono, along with wedding organizer Fenny Palijama to get unique insights into what it takes to create the perfectdream wedding. Looking into their personal and professional journeys can be quite inspiring as well.
