Top story

Indian auto’s record highs: As the Indian car market continues to scale new peaks new and clearer market trends are emerging. While SUVs and crossovers are making gains everywhere, small cars and hatchbacks are not in a mood to give up territory so easily despite the fact that one in every two vehicles sold in FY24 was an SUV.

What the country witnessed was the growth of SUVs by over 28% to 2.1 million units with more than 50% of them being above four metres. Interestingly, vehicle prices, which had already gone up by 25-30% post Covid-19, witnessed another year of 11% appreciation. We present a detailed analysis on the year gone by and the winners and losers in our cover story.
