In dieser Angelegenheit
The October 2019 issue of Apparel is primarily centred on the current festive season. The issue opens with a report on the 23rd meeting of CMAI’s IVY League, which was focused on creative thinking for businesses and brands.
This is followed by a host of feature stories—one speaks of designer Pooja Shroff’s batik-inspired garments, and the other is an insight into the sorry state of Indian handlooms today. The focal point of the issue is a feature on festive clothing for men, women, and children. In addition, there are stories about custom-tailoring re-entering the Indian market, as well as one that lays down the fundamentals of organic clothing and fibres.
Under the ‘Designer Spotlight’ section, we profile two fresh, young, and bold-in-their-own-ways fashion designers Stanzin Palmo and Arpita Mehta. The ‘Brand Profile’ segment this month comprises interviews with two recently launched labels, Mi Dulce An’ya and QUA, the former being a kids’-wear brand and the latter, a workwear brand for women. Under ‘Industry Insights’, we take a look at the gradual decline of the Indian spinning industry, and the country’s slowly plummeting economy and its impact on the apparel industry. For ‘Entrepreneur Speak’, we have a word with Manjula Tiwari, CEO, Ancestry, who opens up about the brand’s philosophy and its plans ahead. The ‘New Avenues’ section features an account of the impact digitisation has had on the industry. ‘Fashion Speak’ carries vibrant spreads that give a lowdown on the FDCI India Couture Week 2019.
The ‘Regulars’ segment consists of the important news and events, talked-about brands, trending collections, as well as forthcoming events in the world of apparel.
