In Charlotte, our doctors are doing great things. Several are leaders in their field — including one who performed ankle surgery on Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter, another who saved the life of an NFL player’s son, and another who’s one of the top lung cancer medical oncologists in the country. We highlight these doctors as part of our Top Doctors issue this month. Also, we explore the life of Joe DeLamielleure, an NFL Hall of Famer and Charlotte resident who suffering from CTE, the brain injury associated with playing football. We have a special feature on Project Life, the movement to add people to the bone marrow list, and the moving story of why so many prominent Charlotteans are joining in the cause.
