MARTIN FUCHS and the classy stallion Chaplin — jumping in his first outdoor five-star grand prix — kick-started the 2017 Longines Global Champions Tour (LGCT) season with a sensational victory in Mexico City. The 25-year-old Swiss rider’s all-out round against the clock beat Belgium’s Niels Bruynseels (Gancia de Muze) by half a second, with Dutchman Maikel van der Vleuten filling the final podium spot on VDL Groep Arera C.
Ireland’s Bertram Allen and Hector Van D’Abdijoeve finished fifth as the fastest four faulters in this new-look two-round grand prix.
