A hunter-turned-eventer gives Brazil’s Carlos Parro a first win of the season.
A FORMER hunter scored his first ever British Eventing win under Carlos Parro. The Shrewsbury-based Brazilian rider said Maesmawr Fox, owned by Phil and Sue Jones , felt on “good form” after clinching the open intermediate (OI). The pair added 4.4 time-faults to their dressage score of 28.9 — the fastest round in this section, but it hadn’t been Carlos’ intention to push him on the cross-country.
“I didn’t set out for a fast time so I can’t say I pushed him to go super fast,” said Carlos, who has partnered the chestnut gelding for the past two seasons.
“He’s a good clean jumper and a straightforward horse who tries really hard.”
By Irish draught stallion Sammys Pride, the 10-year-old stands at 17.1hh and was bought unseen as a hunter for his owners.
