The inclusion of a freestyle class at the Liverpool International shows how popular the discipline has become thanks to British Olympic triumphs
THE introduction of dressage to the Liverpool International Horse Show reflects a growing spectator interest in the sport, according to the show’s president.
This is the first time that dressage will take place at the event (28-31 December) and the inter I invitational will be popular, president Nina Barbour believes.
“The sport has a real loyal following and in some ways more people can relate to dressage than showjumping,” Nina told H&H. “The success of Charlotte [Dujardin], Carl [Hester] and the team at the last two Olympics set it apart from other disciplines.”
