Reports of red kites endangered by lead poisoning have been in the national media, but the evidence has been distorted, says BASC
BASC says that a new report into red kite mortality has distorted the evidence to exaggerate the role of lead poisoning as a cause of death.
A study published in the European Journal of Wildlife Research last month includes details of post-mortems and toxicology analysis of 162 red kites found dead in the UK between the years 1989 and 2007.
