IRSAN GREGOIRE HYPER REALISTIC ART
A deep level of communication
Irsan Gregoire is a French artist born in Dominica in 1990. From a young age, he discovered a passion for drawing through comic books and cartoons. He would often copy illustrations of his favorite superheroes.
At the age of eight, Irsan met an artist, who was also an art teacher, who saw natural talent and great potential in him. She offered to give him drawing and painting lessons for free since his parents could not afford them. These sessions introduced him to live portraiture, nude studies, and techniques such as the grid method for proportion.
In his teenage years, with a preference for drawing over painting, Irsan started to develop an interest in colorful caricatures but later gave it up. He wanted to represent his models in a flattering way. After coming across hyper-realistic artworks in late 2011, he finally realized what he was meant to do and decided to drop out of college.
His art is composed of portraits, figures, and still life, all done using graphite and charcoal pencils. He aims to communicate emotions on a deep level by spending hundreds of hours capturing his subjects' moods, expressions, and likeness with them.
