Here is a contextual and beautiful story from mythology…
I used to couch around my grandfather pleading for a story every day after dinner and he used to narrate his magical stories so well, adding a lot of theatrical expressions to it that it never failed to transport us to the land from where the story evolved. This particular story is closest to my heart and motivates me to give my best at work every day.
Lord Shiva was known as the one who could bring Divine showers by playing His Dumroo – a simple rhythmic musical instrument which produces pleasant beat sound when rattled gently. The universe, it was believed, lost itself in tears observing Him play this instrument; the rain God as a salutation to this music, bathed Lord Siva in torrential rainfall, soaking the earth too in the process.
During this time, a saint, supposedly was so much upset with the farmers, and cursed them with 7 years of rain-less earth. Also anticipating that the farmers might plead to Lord Shiva for rain through His Dumroo, the saint through a pending boon got his condition approved from Lord Shiva too, that he would not play the Dumroo for the next 7 years.
