The Renault ZOE has largely had things its own way in the electric supermini sector since it was introduced in 2012. While electric powertrains have arrived at a steady pace in the family car and prestige segments over the past five years or so, the supermini market has seen little action. That’s partly due to economics and the cost needed to electrify small cars and their resulting high showroom prices. but, the tide is turning, and the PSA Group has capitalized across its brands, offering all-electric versions of supermini models across its portfolio. Zero-emission variants of the new DS 3 Crossback and the latest Peugeot 208 join the first Vauxhall Corsa to wear an ‘e’ badge since the model’s UK introduction 27 years ago. With plans for 100% of the PSA Group’s range to be electrified by 2025, the supermini EVs are a very big step towards that commitment.
