For 2019 the Tracer has been upgraded into the Tracer 900 GT, building on the already impressive specification and ability of the Tracer, which is still available.
The good thing is that Yamaha has kept everything that was good about the MT-09 and Tracer in the first place, namely the engine and chassis. The flat-plane cranked triple-cylinder engine is simply fantastic. It lacks the turbine smoothness of a four-cylinder but, for me, that’s what gives it its character, that and the gruff intake and exhaust notes that are so characteristic of the layout. The engine’s output remains unchanged at 114bhp and 87Nm, propelling an overall 215kg.
What Yamaha has done is added to and upgraded the overall package. The 900 GT now comes with hard, removable panniers, a quick shifter (up changes only), cruise control, full colour TFT dash, fully adjustable front forks and heated grips.
