Project Yamaha TX750 part 1 Pond hopping…

Oh dear, our Mark has had a few drinks and bought a bike online... from the USA! Welcome to his Yamaha TX750.

Project Yamaha TX750 part 1 Pond hopping…

I finished my Yamaha TX500series a little while back and in it I aimed to challenge the popular viewpoint that it was one of

Yamaha’s mistakes, and instead show that it wasn’t really bad at all.

I have been pretty pleased with the result, which I must admit is a little challenging in some respects.

This got me thinking about these old Yamaha twins of the early Seventies: apart from the TX500 there was the TX650 (which developed into the well-known and fairly successful XS650) and… then there was the TX750. Only in production for three years, mention of it (if you have even heard of it) is accompanied by a roll of the eyes and a shaking of the head as ‘everyone knows it was just wrong, wrong, wrong’. Or was it? Let us take a look at a bit of background.
