London-based artist is inspired by the diecast toy cars of his childhood
A spectacular piece featuring a diverse set of race transporters is the latest in a fantastic series by Jeremy Dickinson. “It was inspired by sculptor Richard Long,” he says. “I paint from life, so the arrangement had to be set up like a wagon train round-up.”
Working with a rich palette of oils, Dickinson vividly depicts the battered state of old diecasts to create his dazzling pictures. His striking compositions have recently branched out to ever more ambitious ideas, including a colourful series with toy cars laid out as flags.
