Inspired by the success of Force Traveller mini-buses at Nagpur, taken on wet-lease, the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) has pressed six 21-seat air-conditioned Traveller mini-buses in its service at Mumbai. These can carry seven standees and are based on the Force Traveller T2 platform, which measures 2.2 m in width. Offering a wide aisle, full standing height and ample legroom, the six mini-buses, equipped with an SOS that is connected with GPS (police can track the bus in case of an emergency), are part of an order placed for 50 such vehicles to be delivered this year. Inducted in service under the premise that they would be easy to manoeuvre through the crowded and narrow lanes of Maharashtra’s capital city, the six Traveller minibuses, painted in a shade of red that the other BEST buses also flaunt, have been sourced on wet-lease. For BEST whose expenditure for FY201819 was Rs.2010.13 crore as against an income of Rs.1745.27 crore, the six mini-buses precede the supply of 400 such vehicles that Force Motors will supply to BEST.
