It was in the mid-last year that VE Commercial Vehicles (VECV) announced that it has secured BSVI certification for its 3.3-litre E483 CNG engine from ICAT. Early this year, the company unveiled its ambitious yet Pro 2000 series trucks. One of these was a BSVI diesel model. In addition to the Pro 2095 truck with a BSVI powertrain, VECV unveiled two BSVI engines, namely the E474 and E494. Manufacturing Euro6 engines for export to several Volvo Group entities around the world through its sister concern, the Volvo Eicher Powertrain Ltd. (VEPT), since 2013, VECV is no stranger to BSVI emission norms. Not exactly, though it has invested much money and resources to ensure that it frugally engineers BSVI powertrains for its CVs to meet the regulations as well as the requirements of its customers in the India market. Leveraging its ability to produce Euro6 engines in the five- and eight-litre guise, albeit through VEPT, the CV major has done much design and engineering to come up with a robust SCR-based BSVI solution for its range of CVs.
