New York-based Mitsubishi fan Nawshin Basher has built an Evo with enough muscle to rule the big apple’s meanest streets.
New York, USA. It may be one of the most developed and wealthiest cities in the world, home to Wall Street, the Statue Of Liberty and Times Square, but that doesn’t mean it hasn’t got its rough parts. Areas such as the Bronx, Brownsville and Harlem are all areas where it pays to be tough, where violence and murder are never far from the headlines and any locals who are packing heat are sure to have more than a warming cup of beefy Bovril stashed under their jackets.
Those that call the Big Apple home are well accustomed to dealing with life on the mean streets of the city and develop an uncompromising attitude that steels them against the worst that New York’s seedy underbelly can throw at them.
Long-time New Yorker Nawshin Basher is one such iron-willed individual who, after growing up in the shadow of the city’s skyscrapers, has channelled his inner aggression and determination into building one of the toughest streetdriven Evos we’ve ever featured in this magazine, and, amazingly, this isn’t even the finished article…
‘This may seem like a completed build, but there is still so much more I want to do with my Evo. I don’t think it’ll ever be fully complete,’ laughs Nawshin when we meet him at an abandoned factory building on the outskirts of the city. ‘I’ll just keep improving it until I can no longer afford it.’
And as anyone who has attempted to build a feature worthy project car can testify, along with time, money is likely the biggest limiting factor to the final outcome, and Nawshin knows this only too well.
