Like most of my projects, it grew arms and legs” explains Peter. His Foden Alpha created quite a sensation when it broke cover late last year, and not just amongst those with a liking for British metal. It’s easy to see why; it’s incredibly well finished. Painted in gleaming Vauxhall VXR Power Red and adorned with an airbrush theme in tribute to ‘80s movie Road House, it’s one of the very best examples of an Alpha.
It’s no show pony either, it was bought to work. “The idea in the beginning was just to get a tidy lorry and get it on the road” says Peter, whose family runs three farms in Aberdeenshire.
“I had wanted my own lorry for a while. At peak times of the year, it could be hard to get haulage sorted when everyone is busy. There just aren’t as many small operators around anymore you can call upon.”
