Beard growing, almost sheep owning, former Harlequin T5 painting dude who once ran Voodoo Paintworx in Nottingham
VWt: Watcha Kev, how’s tricks? A little birdie tells us you had a feature car back in the good ol’ days of Max Power?
KH: Ha ha, the birdie was correct. I had my modified Escort GTi in Oct 2004 Max Power. It’s something I’d set as a to-do since I was 15 at school. My dad’s mate picked me up from school in his yellow RST Van and took me for a spin. I was hooked straight away, and have owned modded RS Turbos, Cossies and VWs ever since.
VWt: What is the automotive achievement you’re most proud of then?
KH: Mmm, tough one, as I’ve loved doing so many of my old customers’ cars, but I’d say my Harlequin T5 was my proudest. I’d had the idea for so long, and nearly everyone raised eyebrows when I suggested it, but I did what I usually do and told them to trust me. Thankfully, everyone (almost) loved it when it was finished.
VWt: How did you come to run your own paint shop?
KH:
I learned to paint whilst working on articulated trailers, where I met my good friend, Shaun. We started to do my mates’ Type 25s and Split Screens on the side, then decided half way through a recession to sod it and set up Voodoo and had seven great years at it.
All the motors I’ve owned since were basically rolling adverts for the business, so it was only natural to do something out there like the T5.
