Fusing functionality with exquisitely crafted wedding dresses and elaborate couture techniques with ready-to-wear, Maria Grazia Chiuri, creative director of Dior, intermixes paradigms and gives us creations that are tailor-made to the metamorphosing attitudes of the era.
It is the relevance and freshness of the harvests of our minds that take centre stage in an era that shifts gears by the second. In its 72nd year of existence, the house of Dior bears ample testimony to this. With its roots sown in dexterity, Dior was established as an haute couture house by Monsieur Christian Dior in the December of 1946. At 30 Avenue Montaigne, Paris, the private atelier harbours the wonderworld of the house of Dior even today, undeterred by the fleeting nature of the world of fashion. Even though, with the passage of time, the house has gained phenomenal prominence and global acclaim in the domains of ready-towear, accessories, footwear, jewellery, and beauty among others, the heart of Dior unmistakably lies in haute couture.
Known for its long-standing tryst with designing iconic wedding dresses for the likes of Miranda Kerr and Gwen Stefani to name a few, the magnificent wedding of Italian fashion blogger and international phenomenon Chiara Ferragni presented the house with yet another opportunity to showcase the almost-surreal magic it spins with haute couture.
Founder of the fashion blog, The Blonde Salad, and a mega fashion influencer in her own right, Ferragni married Italian rap sensation Federico Leonardo Lucia, better known by his stage name Fedez, in a fairytale wedding on September 1st in the historic Sicilian town of Noto. In what can be called the most Instagrammed wedding of 2018, everything from the sea of fans who turned up to catch a glimpse of the couple to the rehearsal dinner, and finally, their very own ‘Ferragnez’ carnival post their wedding, was documented on social media, immortalising the wedding.
