The Japanese-origin Hitachi Data Systems has been involved with several e-governance initiatives in India. In an interaction with Bureaucracy Today, Srinivas Rao, Sales Director, Government Sector, Hitachi Data Systems (India), talks about how the company is helping India transform into a digital nation.
Hitachi Data Systems has partnered with the Government of India in various interventions like the EPFO. What security does it guarantee to an individual’s information?
According to a report by the Nasscom and Deloitte, the Internet of Things (IoT) market in India stood at USD 5.6 billion with 200 million connected units in 2016. Also, the IoT ecosystem in India comprises around 120 organizations from across the value chain. With the Central Government talking about its “Digital India” vision, we see enormous business opportunities in the government sector. We (Hitachi Data Systems) see this as a good opportunity for the company.
The HDS has collaborated with the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), a Government of India unit, to provide digital transformation by facilitating seamless information management in the backend where the EPFO can digitise most of its services. Along with home-grown applications and partners, the HDS has helped the EPFO to digitally transform by providing better services to citizens.
The inherent Hitachi technology features within our solutions and ensures that data is accessed via authorized applications thus providing boundary for individuals’ data access. Also, our data protection solutions along with security solutions will ensure that data is safe and protected for future reference.
How is the HDS playing a vital role in the ambitious ‘Smart Cities’ and ‘Make in India’ projects?
