Helping Students Choose Career
Bureaucracy Today|June 1 - 31, 2017

While conducting research on employment in India, a career counselling company, Mindler, has identified that students don’t know more than eight careers; they don’t have a solution to their problems; there is no scalable platform which is affordable in the country; and most importantly, the country lacks an adequate number of career counsellors. The company recognised the need to provide students with a tool to help them in their career options and developed an online tool in areas of their interest. Its initiative has already created a lot of buzz in industry – not only in India but in Global market too. Launched in July 2016, the company has already entered into seven alliances and three strategic partnerships with large companies, and has tied up with 20 marquee schools. In an interaction with Bureaucracy Today, Prateek Bhargava, CEO of Mindler, speaks about how his company is helping students to choose the right career option.

Helping Students Choose Career

How does the Mindler help students choose right career options?

The first aim of the Mindler’s tool is to help students increase their awareness about careers. Then help them choose the right one –that is where the entire concept of the platform comes into for helping them do both. Through series of assessments, the student comes to know almost everything about him or her: personality, aptitude, emotional interest, etc., which is more like a psychometric profiling. They get one result, a full 40-page exhaustive result, with detailed developmental plans. Then the machine learning helps them to choose good careers, explore the career and choose colleges accordingly. It will also highlight their weaknesses and suggests how to improve. Similarly, it highlights their strengths and tells what they can do about them. It is completely a cloud-based platform.
