Trio's Magic: Click An Image, Get A Handful Of Recipes

Three promising youngsters – classmates first at Sree Narayana College of Engineering, Kolenchery, roommates later at Kakkanad, Kochi and now, co-founders. Inquisitive minds with engineering degrees to boot and what do they do? They start playing around with Robotics and Artificial Intelligence (AI)!

What to cook with what we have? Faced with a similar dilemma often, the three youngsters decided to solve it using their technology prowess. Thus was born Recipe Book, an intelligent cooking app using deep learning computer vision technology for advanced image recognition which can throw up recipes in real time by reading the images of ingredients uploaded by the user.

Agrima Infotech (agrimainfotech. com), the company founded by Anoop Balakrishnan, Co-founder and CEO; Arun Ravi, Co-founder and Head of Business Operations and Nikhil Dharman, Co-founder and CTO, received $5,00,000 in its first round of funding from a US-based angel investor early this year at an enterprise valuation of $4 million.

“Our startup journey kicked off five years ago. We have had many failures. It is only very recently that we started seeing some success,” a modest Anoop told me when I met him at a TiE Kerala event. “We created a humanoid robot as part of our final-year college project. After college, we moved to the Startup Village in Kochi where its then Founder-CEO Sijo Kuruvilla has been a great influencer and mentor.”
